Dietetics
Health professionals can access our Referrals
Dietitians have specialist knowledge in nutrition and health, throughout all stages of our life cycle including pregnancy, children and adolescent health, rehabilitation and aged care.
This expertise also extends to knowledge of nutrition requirements associated with specific conditions such as diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, high cholesterol as well as providing general healthy eating advice.
The Bass Coast Health Dietetic Service provides a range of services to both inpatients and outpatients. Ongoing care and advice for clients recently discharged from hospital is provided where necessary. This can include arranging supplements for eligible clients (e.g. HENS clients) or home visits if required. Nutrition information is provided by way of individual consultations as well as in group settings.
Bass Coast Health Group programs which Dietitians participate in include:
- Weight Wise
- Life Program (for pre diabetics)
- Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) approach to feeding - a program for treating children with fussy eating and other feeding difficulties
- Diabetes education
- Cardiac rehabilitation
- Pulmonary rehabilitation
- New parent groups
- Falls prevention / stability groups
The Dietetic Service is committed to excellence and all staff have Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) status.
