Kirrak House aged care home at Wonthaggi Hospital finished its major renovation in time for Christmas.
Thanks to funding from the State Government, Kirrak is now revitalised to continue to provide first class aged care.
Vinyl has replaced carpet and the internals were all repainted. New water pipes were installed, along with a new nurse on-call system that entailed digital signs being installed in hallways to display a resident’s bedroom number when they call for assistance.
More works are to come, with carpet in the hallway in side two to be replaced with vinyl.
Bass Coast Health CEO Jan Child was pleased with the refresh.
“Our treasured residents can now enjoy fresh surroundings in their home and the renovations have made Kirrak House safer,” she said.
Resident Mort Stuchbery approved of the new look.
“The walls are a nice quiet colour and I’m lucky to have a lovely sunny room,” he said.
While the renovations occurred, five residents were relocated to Griffiths Point Lodge at San Remo and 15 remained at Kirrak House.
