Op shop donation boosts aged care

A specialist chair will make life easier for residents and staff at Bass Coast Health’s (BCH) aged care facility at San Remo, Griffiths Point Lodge.

The chair was purchased by funds raised by sales at the San Remo Opportunity Shop, which is run by volunteers to support BCH.

The RAIZER II lifting chair enables a resident who has fallen to be lifted electronically at the touch of a button. The chair came with a headrest, trolley, battery and remote control.

“We are grateful for this donation of $6193 which will ensure residents can be lifted safely by our staff,” BCH Volunteers and Fundraising Manager Vicki Riley said.

“If a resident falls onto a hard surface the chair can be assembled around them and lifts them into a seated position.”

Sara Fleisner, President of the San Remo Opportunity Shop, said, “The San Remo Op Shop volunteers are pleased and proud to be able to make this donation.”

The San Remo op shop is open Monday-Friday, 10am-2.30pm, at 65D Back Beach Road, San Remo. You’ll find clothing, treasures and more.
