Bass Coast Health is pleased to announce that Imaging Associates, a leading provider of medical imaging solutions, will be providing comprehensive radiology services to Bass Coast Health (BCH) from October this year.
BCH is the major public healthcare provider within Bass Coast Shire. Following a thorough tender process, Imaging Associates was selected by BCH to partner with us and deliver high-quality imaging services to the local community.
Imaging Associates has extensive experience providing radiology services to public hospitals, having successfully retained contracts with Eastern Health, Murrumbidgee Local Health District and more recently Peninsula Health.
Imaging Associates also supports Gippsland Southern Health Service in nearby Leongatha and Korumburra Hospitals, and they have established private radiology practices in Drouin and Warragul.
As part of the contract, Imaging Associates will install state-of-the-art imaging equipment to be operated by highly skilled medical imaging staff and dedicated radiologists to serve BCH sites at Wonthaggi Hospital, and the new Phillip Island Community Hospital.
BCH CEO Jan Child said the health service was extremely pleased to welcome Imaging Associates to the community.

Key highlights of the partnership between Imaging Associates and BCH include:
• Introduction of a diagnostic mammography service at Wonthaggi Hospital, complemented by an upgrade to existing mammography equipment. BreastScreen services will continue to be offered at Wonthaggi Hospital, ensuring continuity of care for patients • A new low-dose cardiac-capable CT scanner at Wonthaggi Hospital.
The partnership comes at an opportune time as BCH's newly developed hospital site at Wonthaggi Hospital continues to expand. With Stage 1 opening in December 2022 and planning for Stage 2 expansion underway, including a new MRI facility within the radiology department, Imaging Associates is poised to play a pivotal role in supporting BCH's growth and development.
This expansion underscores Imaging Associate's commitment to bringing advanced medical imaging closer to local communities, thereby reducing the need for patients to travel to larger metropolitan centres for diagnostic services.
