Fete celebrates the community at the heart of public healthcare

Volunteers and staff were overjoyed by the community’s support of the Bass Coast Health Ladies Auxiliary held at Wonthaggi Hospital on Saturday 9 November.

The annual fete in the Stirton Room and Allied Health carpark was well attended, with people lured by the variety of stalls and the chance to support their local public healthcare service.

Among the fete goodies on offer were baked goods, plants, knitted items, Devonshire teas, jams, a sausage sizzle, craft, books, jewellery, toys, flowers, clothes and more.

This year, the fete expanded to include outside vendors who hired tables to sell their goods, offering the community even more reason to attend.

BCH Ladies Auxiliary President Raye Tucker thanked the community for their support of the annual event.

“The fete is not only an opportunity to raise funds for our public health service but also showcase the creative talents of our local vendors,” she said.

“Thank you to the wonderful volunteers of the Auxiliary for their work in the lead-up to the fete and also on the day. We enjoy coming together for such a worthwhile event.”

Acting BCH CEO Shaun Brooks thanked the dedicated, tireless volunteers of the BCH Ladies Auxiliary, and the other Auxiliaries, for once again presenting the community with an amazing fete.

“The fete is an annual highlight of the Bass Coast’s social calendar and we’re so pleased that the Auxiliary, and the broader Bass Coast community, continues to support their sub-regional health service with such enthusiasm, energy and generosity,” he said.

“Every dollar raised helps BCH to continue to provide a greater range of healthcare to our community close to their homes.

“I’d also like to acknowledge members of the Phillip Island Health Hub Auxiliary and Inverloch Fundraising Auxiliary, which also support Bass Coast Health, for holding stalls, raffles and a barbecue to further boost the fundraising result.”
