Bass Coast Health staff donned crazy socks in support of good mental health among doctors today, Crazy Socks 4 Docs Day.
Staff were encouraged to wear colourful and fun socks to stimulate conversation around the importance of good mental health for doctors and other medical staff, as well as the need to remove stigma around ill mental health experienced by healthcare professionals.
The BCH team gathered for a pizza lunch to mark the special day.
The Crazy Socks 4 Docs movement was started by Dr Geoff Toogood, a consultant cardiologist in Melbourne, who has experienced depression and anxiety.
Bass Coast Health CEO Jan Child, a former colleague of Dr Toogood, said, “All our staff were invited to wear crazy socks and remind each other that we all have issues from time to time. Wearing crazy socks was a good way to remind us that kindness is one of the best ways we can support each other.”
