Patients and visitors to Bass Coast Health (BCH) can expect to see new faces on staff after the sub-regional health service welcomed Junior Doctors to its medical team.
The doctors are in at least their second postgraduate year and come to BCH on secondment from the metropolitan health services of Austin Health, Monash Health and Alfred Health.
“The new staff have had a variety of experiences prior to their commencement with Bass Coast Health. Some of the new Junior Doctors are international medical graduates with extensive experience overseas. They will be working with our highly skilled Senior Team of Medical Professionals to expand their medical knowledge while contributing to the healthcare of the communities of Bass Coast and South Gippsland shires,” BCH’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Renee Kelsall said.
While with BCH, the Junior Doctors will work in the Emergency Department and Kodowlinun Ward (Surgical and Medical), Sub-Acute ward, operative suites and the Integrated Care Unit at Wonthaggi Hospital.
Dr Rama Mikhail, a Hospital Medical Officer, is looking forward to experiencing life in a rural location.
“I came here to be part of the tight-knit community and I’m excited about meeting new people and caring for them, their family and their friends,” she said.
