Aged Care Employee Day highlights very special people at BCH

News

Bass Coast Health (BCH) is celebrating the kind, compassionate and dedicated staff who work in aged care on Aged Care Employee Day, Wednesday 7 August.

The day pays tribute to the more than 370,000 people who care for and support around 1.5 million older Australians who receive aged care services.

BCH is privileged to operate two residential care facilities, Kirrak House at Wonthaggi and Griffiths Point Lodge at San Remo.

As the sub-regional health service for the Bass Coast and South Gippsland shires, BCH’s aged care services also include Flexihealth, Transitional Care, Residential In-Reach and Sub-Acute services.

“BCH is so fortunate to have many wonderful staff who work across many services to provide the best care possible to our valued senior citizens,” BCH CEO Jan Child said.

“They include Nurses, Personal Care Workers, Diversional Therapists, Food Services staff, Care workers, Support Services staff, Administration staff and Volunteers who are proud to ensure the people in their care enjoy as fulfilling lives as they can.

“Working in aged care is a privilege and is a special field of work requiring not only a caring nature, but also specialist skills and expertise. It’s such a rewarding field of work as our staff learn about life when our residents were younger, become part of their lives and families, and help our residents and clients in times of need.”

BCH not only offers staff pleasant working environments, but also public service ratios and employment conditions, and the chance to develop their careers.
